Our Activities

The dream to convert and restore the 1950’s build dwellings into an Inn became a reality in September 2000 when the first guests enjoyed their stay at Claus Inn. The name Claus Inn originates from Claus Clauszen. Claus was born in Bergewohrden, Schleswig-Holstein in north Germany. He settled as a stock farmer in the 1730s on the banks of the Gouritsriver in the Southern Cape. Claus is the ancestor of the Claassen family in South Africa. Claus Inn Guest House reflects the frontier heritage of the hosts. The Cape Karoo architectural style combined with the layout and size of dwellings on the 4000m2 premises create a unique, quiet and relaxed environment for guests. The room names, food and logo are all part of the history and tradition of the Claassen pioneers. Claus Inn Guest House provides a “Home away from Home”
